1968 - Horncastle Cricket Club was formed by a group of friends who fancied the challenge of a few friendly games over the summer months. Original members of the squad included: Dave White, Dr Roy Wallis, Alec Brader, Pete Marshall, Jack Brader, Des Holmes, John Steadman, Les Lintin, Dr Dick Williamson, Nev Oliver, Derrick Milburn, Geoff England, Geoff Rigby, Gordon Nickerson, Ben White and Ray Adlard.
1970 - The first home game took place at Coronation Walk. Up until this year all games had been played whilst the ground was expertly prepared under the guidance of local nursery owner Bill Crowder.
1970 - With the playing field now established, the focus of attention turned to a much needed extension for the Pavilion. The original Pavilion was a wooden structure sited behind the bowlers arm at the Horncastle town end of the ground. To help raise club funds, players young and old, local dancers and entertainers took to the stage to perform in the now legendary gang show OWZAT. It was such a resounding success further shows were produced the following two years. The shows still serve up numerous memories, many unfortunately unprintable, amongst club members and those who witnessed the performances.
1972 - Horncastle lift their first cricketing trophy, winning the Summers Trophy, a mid-week 20/20 knockout cup for local teams. The team went on to repeat this success, retaining the cup in both 1973 and 1974.
1974 - Famous players to represent the club in those early years included Dr Dick Williamson, an Oxford Blue; Eric Wood who captained Leeds Cricket Club at Headingly and played with several Test cricketers including Geoffrey Boycott and Geoff Cope. The later was invited to present the prizes at the 1974 Annual Dinner & Dance.
1975 - Horncastle entered the South Lincs & Border League and consequently won the Division 2 title at the first attempt.
1980 - The Cricket Club continued to flourish and by the 80s the club was fielding both a Saturday and Sunday team. Only one trophy was added to the cabinet throughout the decade, the Cyanamid Trophy, a knockout 20/20 cup played entirely at Market Rasen.
1990 - On a historical night in May, Steve Devereux made club history by hitting 6 sixes in an over, a feat made all the sweeter by being achieved against local arch rivals Woodhall Spa, the unfortunate bowler was Jeremy Allport.
1996 - The hardworking committee, under the guidance of groundsman Bob Lovely, embarked on major improvements to the outfield. New sightscreens and covers were also purchased.
1998 - The club, ready for a fresh challenge, entered the Lincolnshire Cricket League and under the captaincy of Steve Devereux, Horncastle won the Division 2 title at the first attempt.
2006 - The club signed its first overseas player - Sri Lankan, Pubudu Chandrasekera, his effect on the team was immediate. His own high standards with bat and ball inspired the rest of the squad, and now under the captaincy of Michael Devereux, the Club were runners-up in Division 2 and were promoted to Division 1 of the Lincolnshire League.
2007 - ‘Pubs’ returned for a second season and helped the club lift the Division 1 title and gain promotion to the Premier Division, the highest level the Club has played at in its 40 year history.
2007 - The continuing work on the square and outfield paid dividends when the Coronation Walk Ground was declared fit to host the Premier Division fixtures. Further recognition came when the Lincolnshire County Cricket Board requested to use the Coronation Walk ground as a training venue for their junior district and county sides.
2007 - Under the direction of Club Development Officer, Tim Hannam Horncastle Cricket Club was awarded the ECB accredited Clubmark in recognition of the tremendous amount of work being carried out with the junior section of the club. Qualified ECB coaches continue to work with around 50 local youngsters each week during the Spring and Summer.
2008 - An Academy team was launched, with the objective of providing a stepping stone for the younger players into senior cricket. The team finished mid-table in their friendly league with the age of players ranging from twelve to half centurions.
2008 - Junior club members Jack Hughes and Danny Freeman were selected to represent the club at county level. Dan will be captaining the Under 12s in 2009.
2008 - The Club finished a creditable fifth in the Premier league, gaining some notable scalps along the way whilst also introducing a number of youth players into the squad.
2010 - The second team left the East Lindsey Cricket League and has joined the Lincoln Sunday League
